Arkham City is an open world action video game that incorporates elements of stealth and predator tactics. All of the gadgets previously obtained in the first game are present at the start of Arkham City (with the exception of the Ultra Batclaw, which is replaced with the regular Batclaw and Sonic Batarangs). Most of them have improved or new capabilities; for example, the Cryptographic Sequencer can also track signals, the line launcher now has a feature that allows Batman to flip over and launch another zipline perpendicularly across, switching directions, the remote control Batarang now has a built in brake and boost, and the grappling gun can now be used while gliding to boost Batman further up into the air. Four additional gadgets have been revealed: smoke pellets to confuse armed enemies when spotted by them, the Remote Electrical Charge which is a sniper-like taser gun used to power generators and shock enemies, ice grenades used to freeze enemies and make pathways through water, and a balled rope for tying up enemies. The game incorporates more puzzle elements; the use of Batman's "Detective Mode", which highlights elements such as enemy skeletons and clues on-screen, is used to perform forensic activities such as tracing the origin of a sniper round.

This sequel is everything you would expect if you played the first one. The 2 best moments in the game for me was discovering the underground city and fighting the swat team enemies, it just made you feel like you were playing as Batman. A couple things I have to say is that the potential for the swat team battles were cut short as you only fight them a couple of times. The Main Villain of this game is one dimensional and predictable and the fact that It's really just more of an update of Arkham Asylum then a brand new experience. Overall the gameplay engine and design is refined, the sense of adventure is great, the characters are great, but Its not one of Batman's all time highlights like Mask of The Fantom or Dark Knight Returns.

Developer Rocksteady's latest opus, Batman: Arkham City, is the definition of "bigger and better". The game somehow manages to avoid the sophomore slump after dodging the superhero game curse with 2009's critically lauded Batman: Arkham Asylum. Batman fans, rejoice- and say a prayer that someday DC's other big hero, Superman, may one day get a film or videogame worthy of his name. Batman has The Dark Knight and Batman: Arkham City. Supes has Superman Returns and Superman 64.

2009's Arkham Asylum managed to do a fantastic job of putting you in the Dark Knight's boots and truly making you feel like the World's Greatest Detective. It was a superb game with very few flaws, one of the only downsides being that you never got the chance to stand atop a Gotham City building, fly around the city streets and silently dispatch the criminals of the night. Batman: Arkham City finally gives us that chance, and it's just as cool as I always expected.

You start off Arkham City with all the gadgets you picked up in your playtrough of Arkham Asylum. After a brief, very cool opening where you play as Bruce Wayne, you'll soon acquire your BatSuit and your utility belt. A few seconds later, you'll be jumping off a tall building, swooping throuh the air and shooting your grappling hook at nearby buildings mid-flight. Once you get the controls down, this is all very intuitive and fun. It definitely reminded me of swinging through New York City for the first time as Spidey in Spider-Man 2- arguably the last great superhero game before Arkham Asylum came along. Gotham City is huge- even just the walled off Arkham City part that you'll play through in this game. Even though it can mainly serve in the game as just a hub world between missions, you will spend quite a bit of time in it. You'll also spend a lot of time walking through Gotham's most notorious areas, like the Penguin's Iceberg Lounge and the site of Bruce's parents' death, Monarch Theater.

One thing everybody loved about Arkham Asylum was the myriad cameos from all the heroes and villains of Batman lore. This game manages to pack in even more, while adding more substance to their characters and giving them much more screen time. You'll even get to play as some of them, provided you have some of the very cool preorder DLC. I ordered from Amazon, and so I picked up the very cool Catwoman DLC.I can't speak for the other packs, like Robin's, but Catwoman's missions are extremely cool and directly tied into Batman's story. If you have the Catwoman DLC, you'll actually start the game as Catwoman, and you'll play missions throughout the game as her when the story dictates, and you'll even get have an extra mission to play after the credits roll.

One other huge gameplay element that Rocksteady got right in Arkham Asylum was the combat system. It was honestly the most intuitive and entertaining combat systems I'd ever played.The system just worked so well that I was amazed that every other superhero game didn't try to ape it. Since Arkham Asylum was still king of the superhero videogames leading up to Arkham City's release, maybe some of them should have tried. This awesome combat system is expanded with even cooler combos and reversals, and Catwoman even has a totally complete set of her own moves. It truly makes the game feel complete, and you can easily tell that Catwoman was not just a tacked-on afterthought.

The story is even better than it was the last time around. Rocksteady had been teasing that the Joker may not live to see the end of this game (and possibly even Batman himself), and this plotline is handled very well throughout, taking many unexpected twists and turns, right up until the game's shocking final moments. I honestly thought I had the story figured out by the end, and the writers totally surprised me. Suffice it to say that I am already anticipating Batman 3 just to see the after effect's of Arkham City`s last act. Even when I could barely keep my eyes open after hours of playing, I still wanted to press on just to see what happens next.

Batman: Arkham City is the best kind of sequel- the kind that I can't say enough good things about. A sequel hasn't gotten this many things right since Uncharted 2 came out. There are a few nitpicks, such as how much the difficulty ramps up in the final act and the fact that sometimes it can be pretty damn hard to figure out exactly where the hell you need to go, but overall this game is so good that those flaws are easily overlooked. Even after beating the game, new modes are unlocked, such as the New Game Plus, which is a harder mode that takes away the reversal prompts and throws more difficult enemies at you from the start. You can also replay any of the DLC missions, play challenges, and more. Considering that Arkham City probably took me at least 10 hours to beat, and I've only unlocked about 40% completion on the game, I'd say that this title has a lot of replay value. You'll also gain the ability to wear any DLC Batman suits in your second playthrough of the game. Just like The Dark Knight was an even better film than Batman Begins,Batman: Arkham City has beaten out its only competition. Until the next Rocksteady Batman game (which will hopefully take place in a fully realized Gotham City) , you probably won't find another superhero game as great as this one, even though I wish that weren't the case. Can Rocksteady please make a Spider-Man game already?

Since I'm a little late to the party with this review I'll try to keep it simple, and simply put, this game is well worth the release date price. Back in 2009 when  Batman Arkham Asylum  came out I thought that it would be like every other below average movie spinoff game out there, but I quickly learned that Batman AA was right up there in my book with the best single player games that I've played. Batman Arkham City is no different and perhaps even an improvement over Arkham Asylum if you can fathom that.

There is a lot to this game and it is very well developed. I played on Normal difficulty and I'm glad that I did, because Arkham City's Normal difficulty is no walk in the park. I died during a few battles and even when I got used to some of the battle patterns (especially when facing goons with guns) I sometimes was down to almost no health by the end of my retry. So if you can beat Arkham City on Hard in your first playthrough you're a pro. I might give Hard a try after I beat it on Normal in order to unlock New Game+ that gives you the ability to start a new playthrough with all of the earned abilities from your first playthrough. But be advised that New Game+ won't unlock unless you do indeed beat the game on Normal or Hard first.

You play as The Dark Knight and there are DLC missions where you play as Catwomen; you get the code for the Catwoman DLC free with a new game purchase. And again, just like AA, AC is indeed the "dark"  Alan Moore  Batman, not the bright and happy TV Batman. The game is super fun, sometimes dark, sometimes even creepy & scary but always exciting to play. If I had to name the most important piece of advice to playing Batman AC, especially when you're facing armed enemies, I'd say remember that it's an action/stealth game, and for the parts that require stealth...you'd better be stealthy!

Just like Arkham Asylum there's a lot of hand to hand combat where you start out with basic moves, and as you progress through the game you earn points towards upgrades that allow more advanced takeout moves, or you can apply the upgrades to increased armor or gadget upgrades. There are hours of side missions and plenty of Riddler Trophies to find in Arkham City; I love games where you are rewarded for searching for hidden stuff but not required to find the hidden stuff in order to progress through the game. Rest assured though, the more you search the more upgrade points you'll acquire making your life as Batman a lot easier. But the challenges and Riddler Trophies are much more difficult to attain in AC versus AA...it's like the game developers said, "Hey, everyone's played AA, so let's up the difficulty."

There are plenty of "restrain from throwing controller moments" in Arkham City...especially getting some of those dang Riddler Trophies to unlock. Similar to AA, some of the Riddler Trophies are in out of reach areas that you won't be able to get to unless you have the right equipment upgraded. I don't have a problem with that, but other Riddler Trophies are locked in puzzles that need to be solved...those are the ones that can give you fits. But don't worry, there are plenty that are just there for the taking if you simply look in the right place.

I promised to keep this simple, and I'm feeling like I could go on all day about how impressive Batman AC is for a sequel. So let me just wrap up by saying that there aren't many games that I'd put ahead of this that I'd recommend. There are hours and hours of gaming that you'll get addicted to in your first AC playthrough, and then you get to do it all again with a New Game+. Good luck explaining to your wife why you've disappeared. Warning: "C'mon, it's Batman!" is not a well received excuse for not wanting to go out to dinner on a Friday night. Once gliding around the city was smoothed out it was smooth sailing from then on. Story line and graphics were awesome. When the kids got used to the controls they loved this game also. Good all around game.

特に自分は格闘シーンに発狂しました。

そんな意味で前作もやってれば良かったです。
